I attended the University of Utah and danced with a professional ballet company, "Ballet West". Then I transferred to C.U. and got a degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology, and finished grad school in Speech Path at U.N.C. I married Al Nelson in 1974 and loved traveling in "the hippie van", back packing, skiing, diving, and continue to share his passion for political and environmental causes. I started a multidisciplinary private practice and found the profession of speech language pathology to be immensely gratifying. Then during the midlife crisis stage, Al and I purchased a 50 ft sailing ketch and sailed the Caribbean, made many friends, and ran a part time sailing charter business, "the Colorado Caribbean Connection". Our "kid" happens to be a verbal parrot with impressive verbal skills that make me proud (and occasionally embarrassed) as a speech pathologist). Currently I am volunteering for the Red Cross and a nonprofit, the Boulder Community Foundation, and we still love living in the mountains and enjoy the wildlife around us. Our boat is for sale, but we continue to look forward to traveling, diving, and staying connected with family and friends.
